Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compliance-focused Business Development Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the fintech or lending industry and hands-on experience with regulatory and licensing processes, particularly in the Ghanaian context. This role will be pivotal in driving our business growth while ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Regulatory and Licensing Management:
· Lead the process for obtaining and maintaining a Microfinance or lending license in Ghana.
· Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, ensuring timely submission and compliance with all requirements.
· Monitor regulatory changes and advise management on implications and necessary adjustments.
2. Compliance Oversight:
· Develop and implement strategies to ensure company operations align with legal and regulatory standards.
· Work closely with internal teams to design and enforce compliance protocols.
· Conduct regular audits and reviews to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
3. Business Development:
· Identify growth opportunities in the fintech and lending space, leveraging knowledge of the regulatory landscape.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory authorities, industry stakeholders, and partners.
· Support the development and launch of products and services that align with market demands and compliance requirements.
4. Legal Support:
· Provide legal insights on contracts, agreements, and regulatory frameworks.
· Support in drafting and reviewing documentation required for regulatory submissions.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certifications in compliance is a plus.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal or compliance role, preferably within the fintech or lending industry.
· Proven track record in handling regulatory and licensing matters, especially related to Microfinance or lending licenses in Ghana.
· Strong understanding of Ghana’s financial regulatory environment and relevant laws.
· Excellent analytical, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
· Familiarity with the application and renewal processes for financial licenses.
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
· Experience in working with cross-functional teams to align compliance with business goals.
